Warner Bros. slayed this weekend’s much anticipated San Diego Comic-Con with an enchanted roster of superheros and fantastic beasts. Fans of the Harry Potter franchise dusted off their wands and ironed their dress robes for the release of the newest Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer.
For us Wizarding World-obsessed Muggles, details regarding the movie’s plot have been as much of a mystery as Lord Voldemort’s inability to love. That is, until the release of this new trailer.
Eddie Redmayne plays Newton “Newt” Scamander, the future author of the Hogwarts required text, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Scamander’s a wizard who has smuggled magical creatures into America, where they have unfortunately managed to escape. The movie will follow Scamander as he goes on a mission to recapture his misplaced beasts, which he believes are endangered by creatures much more vicious than them—Muggles.
Every Potterhead knows that answers only lead to more questions, and now that we’ve finally uncovered the plot of Fantastic Beasts, we only have more questions to ask.

In the film’s setting, Tom Riddle hasn’t turned into He Who Must Not Be Named just yet, but the Wizarding World does have Gellert Grindelwald. What’s he up to in the ’20s? Does America have a Dark Wizard of their own?

There were no smartphones in the 1920s, Scamander doesn’t have a Maurders Map of New York City and, apparently, the Accio spell does not apply to fantastical beasts. What’s the solution?
