It’s always a good time to be a Harry Potter fan, but this week has been especially exciting. Yesterday we saw the first cast photos of Jamie Parker, Poppy Miller, and Sam Clemmett who will play Harry Potter, Ginny Potter, and Albus Severus Potter in the upcoming London production of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
The new play, which opens on June 7, is described on the production site, saying, “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.”
Of course it’s not just the Potters fans are keeping up with in the Cursed Child. Today we’re getting our first look at the Granger-Weasley family.
Actor Paul Thornley will take on the role of Ron Weasley, first made famous by Rupert Grint.
Emma Watson’s Hermione will be portrayed by actress Noma Dumezweni.
Today’s look at the upcoming play also gives fans a sneak peek at another member of the next generation of Hogwarts alum with Ron and Hermione’s daughter, Rose Granger-Weasley, who will be played by actress Cherrelle Skeete.
The new instalment takes place 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, with Rose and Albus preparing for their first day at Hogwarts. Rowling describes Rose as taking after her mother, saying “Rose is like her mother, but more secure, more grounded. She was born to wizards and knows her place in the world. Cherrelle plays her perfectly: bossy but deeply lovable.”
We can’t wait for a new heroine of sass.
