Our first look at the Potters for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is here and it’s just as exciting as we hoped! The eighth instalment in J.K. Rowling’s beloved series is the first of its kind to be turned into a play, opening June 7 in London at The Palace Theatre.
Harry Potter’s iconic role, initially brought to life by Daniel Radcliffe, will be played by actor Jamie Parker. Poppy Miller has been cast as Ginny Potter, with Sam Clemmett playing Albus Severus Potter, the young son of Harry and Ginny.
The new photos of the three cast members were released today on J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website and show Parker with Harry’s iconic lightning bolt scar. Clemmett is dressed in a Hogwarts robe, though it’s unclear what house he has been sorted into.
The play’s storyline is described on the production website, saying “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.” The new story finds Harry acting as the Minister of Magic while he and Ginny raise three children.
The Pottermore site promises more cast photos to be released throughout the week.
